Influence of Hastelloy’s Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition on Corrosion Resistance of AISI 304 Stainless Steel and of AISI D6 Tool Steel

AISI D6 tool steel and 304 stainless are among the most widely used material in industry. However, this application field can still be expanded through coatings deposition. In regard, objective of work was to evaluate impact by cathodic cage technique using Hastelloy’s cage, on corrosion resistance these steels. Two treatment temperatures were compared. The samples characterized Optical Microscopy, Scanning Electron Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction with Rietveld routine test. results showed formation multiphase layers that contributed potentials reduction for treatments at 400 °C, being more effective when applied D6. It observed is influenced temperature, which attributed precipitation chromium nitride iron oxide 450 ºC.
